Locally developed ERP software set to provide cost effective IT solution to SMEs

-

MUSCAT: Ibn Hyan Economic, Financial and Management Consultants recently announced the completion and launch of its software Count Profit ERP, an integrated software program for all business functions.

Along with the main ERP, it offers two industry and function specific programmes, the Count Profit Real Estate Management Software and the Count Profit Human Resource Management Software. These in its entirety have been developed in Oman making it a true Omani product which took nine years to develop. It is planning to set up training programmes and certification courses with an aim to create local jobs, says a press release.

The strength of its software lies in the fact that it is an open source software and is the only software of its kind currently available in Oman.

Open source software saves license costs that are common in proprietary software. Ease of customisation, adding or removing software program modules, ease of access and rapid creation of new designs are some of its attractions. It has a team of professionals that help provide all required support functions.

There are few established proprietary ERP products which are developed outside Oman comprising license charges.

It’s been noticed that these massive charges have led to a considerable shift in users’ preference from proprietary software to open source software. One such example of open source software success is that of Android which was initially developed by Android Inc. and later bought and unveiled by Google.

ket is already a multibillion dollar industry. The market is easily expandable to the Middle East where the business processes are much the same.

Dinesh Narayanan, the country manager of the software division of Ibn Hyan Economic, Financial and Management Consultants, said, “Our primary target is the small and medium sized enterprises in Oman which consist of about 20,000 enterprises approximately and we intent to cover at least 15% of these. Our products have the potential to integrate low income SMEs as well as established enterprises. We look forward to associating with local corporations to spread the open source message in Oman which will help generate immense financial benefits to the local market. Our objective is to provide a cost effective software solution with quality designs and advanced technology.”
