MEC ELT Symposium 2017 to be held today

MUSCAT: The Centre for Foundation Studies, Middle East College (MEC) is organising the MEC English Language Teaching (ELT) Symposium today from 8-5pm at the MEC Student Hub Auditorium, Knowledge Oasis Muscat.

The theme of the symposium is ‘Tesol in Oman: Innovation­s, Challenges and Future Perspectiv­es’ says a press release.

The symposium aims to provide a platform for language teachers at secondary and tertiary levels to share their ideas on current teaching practices, innovative methods of teaching, the challenges and future directions in language teaching and learning in Oman.

It will be attended by more than 150 people from different schools, colleges and universiti­es in the Sultanate. It will have about 40 sessions including four plenaries.

The keynote address will be given by Dr Saleh Al Busaidi, associate professor of English as a Foreign Language at the College of Education, Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), Dr Tony Waterman, Celta/Delta trainer and an FCE, CPE and IELTS examiner and trainer at the Royal Air force of Oman, Dr Yogesh K Sinha A, Professor, Department of ELT, Faculty of Language Studies, Sohar University and Co-Chair, Higher Education Interest Section, Tesol, USA (2015-2017) and Dr Tareq Al Damen, HoD of the Centre for Foundation Studies at Middle East College.
