NBO, Golf Oman launch Golf Road Show
MUSCAT: National Bank of Oman (NBO) and Golf Oman, the governing body of golf in Oman, have launched Golf Road Show as part of their ongoing efforts to promote the benefits of the sport to the Sultanate’s youth population.
NBO and Golf Oman staff members are touring the country as part of the initiative, teaching a series of engaging workshops and handson lessons to students between the ages of 4 and 18. So far, six schools have signed up with more set to register, says a press release.
Golf is quickly becoming one of the leading sports in Oman, and is the perfect vehicle for children to stay active and have fun whilst receiving many educational benefits. Golf Road Show will not only show young students how to play the sport, but will also teach them various important skills such as patience, concentration, sportsmanship and discipline.

Ahmed Al Musalmi, CEO of NBO, said: “NBO has played a key role in the development of golf across Oman. Junior golf in particular is steadily progressing, and we are delighted to be showing our support for it through this initiative. We believe that the sport is the perfect platform to boost the Sultanate’s tourism sector, whilst also having a positive im- pact on the youth population. The more that school children can see that golf is a game to be enjoyed, the more it will help to encourage them to take up the sport.”
Mundhir Al Barwani, chairman of the Oman Golf Committee added, “Last year we started introducing golf into schools and this initiative with ourselves and NBO will fast track the success and expose golf to the perfect audience. Our next step is to take the roadshow to the other cities of Oman. We really appreciate the investment NBO are making into golf, and with it being the biggest tourist related sport, it is the ideal sport for Oman to embrace.”
