“Such kind and selfless acts from complete strangers prove how wonderful the people of Oman are.”

Kindness seemed to be the thread that bound all of the residents’ answers together.

“Omani people really are hospitable and helpful. My favourite memories are the times we have been walking around remote villages, and been invited into people’s homes for coffee or even lunches and dinners,” revealed Lovisa, another resident. “I have made lasting friends this way.

“I particularly cherish the memory of an iftar in Wadi Sahtan, with the loveliest family,” she added. “Friends and I have also been invited to partake in a Belushi wedding ceremony with complete strangers, and we were included and made to feel so very welcome.”

It is often said that the best memories are shared over experiences with food, and many residents have fond experiences of Omanis going the extra mile to accommodate the needs of their guests.

“I had visited my colleague’s house during one of the holidays with my entire family,” added Vinesh Mandalia. “He and his family took care of us so nicely and I will remember that forever. We are vegetarians so he took care of that.

“I have seen the same warmhearted hospitality across all Omanis and that puts them on top of the table for me. Thank you Oman,” he exclaimed.

“Last weekend we had a ladies only party for people from our office and I didn’t want to go as I was the only vegetarian, but my Omani colleagues took such special care of me that I was overwhelmed by their hospitality,” said Anuradha Ghali. “I would like to use this opportunity to convey my thanks to one and all.”

Platitudes for Oman’s hospitality, kindness and friendliness kept coming in from residents. “Oman is great country to live in. People are friendly and their support is endless,” said Abhishek KR. “When I think of my time in Oman, I cannot help but recall the beauty of the country. Hats off to your hospitality.”

“I feel that Oman is now a part of my life,” piped up Mohammed Ameer Khan. “I have spent almost 18 years here but have never felt away from home. I am in direct touch with Omanis and they have made me a member of their family.

“They’ve always invited me for all of their occasions, and it makes me feel proud and I love that these people are at the pinnacle of hospitality,” he added. “Giving an unknown, so-called expatriate this much honour, is only possible in Oman. If I am able to, I will not hesitate to spend the rest of my life with these caring, warm, people. Long live His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and may the Almighty help this country and her nationals to flourish in all walks of life.”
