Production of refineries in Oman declines

MUSCAT: Production from refineries and other petroleum products declined by 3.4 per cent at the end of February 2017 compared to the correspond­ing period last year, according to the statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Informatio­n (NCSI).

The data shows that Regular Petrol (91) production increased by 17 per cent at the end of February 2017 to 3.213 million barrels while its sales rose 52 per cent to 1.104 million barrels. However, production of Super Petrol (95) declined by 21 per cent to 2.708 million barrels while its sales fell 13 per cent to 2.586 million barrels.

The production of gas (diesel) settled at 3.741 million barrels while its sales fell by 10 per cent to 2.551 million barrels.

The production of jet fuel dropped by 2 per cent to 909,000 barrels, but its sales increased by 6 per cent to 789,000 barrels and its exports fell 32 per cent to 114,000 barrels.

Petrol production

As for petrochemi­cals, the production of petrol grew by 6 per cent to 37,000 metric tonnes and its exports increased by 37 per cent to 37,000MT.

The production of Paraxylene decreased by 8 per cent to 103,000MT while its exports dropped by 15 per cent to 90,000MT.

The production of polypropyl­ene settled at 34,000MT whereas its sales grew by 50 per cent to 3MT. Its exports also increased by 383 per cent to 29,000MT.
