Oman Energy & Water expo, conference opens
The event that will conclude today is open to visitors from 10am to 7pm
MUSCAT: Oman’s biggest energy and water event, Oman Energy & Water Exhibition & Conference, was opened on Monday by Sultan bin Salim bin Said Al Habsi, secretary general, Supreme Council for Planning at the new Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The opening commenced with a speech by a PAEW representative, followed by a keynote presentation by Mehmet Erturk, vice president, Energy Market Regulatory Authority of Turkey (EMRA), who addressed the VIP gathering with a discussion on energy subsidy restructuring.
The event, organised by Oman’s biggest trade exhibitions and con- ferences organiser, Omanexpo, in cooperation with the Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW), is the third edition this year and has introduced two new conferences apart from the main conference — Oman Automation & Control Summit and Oman Drainage & Wastewater Management Summit.
The main conference will feature sessions on the Oman Electricity Transmission Company Master Plan, renewable energy projects, sustainable solutions, power and water renewable technologies, and waste-to-energy so- lutions. Some of the speakers include Hashim Al Zahrani, head of Interconnection Control Center, Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA), Dr Adil Al Busaidi, senior manager of Asset Management & Planning, Oman Electricity Transmission Company, Keith Stallard, executive manager, Water Sector Restructuring, Nama Holding or Mahmoud Jallad, Customer Service Improvement Programme manager, Nama Holding, Hilal Al Abdali, Contracts & Spot Market director, Oman Power & Water Procurement Company (OPWP), Ziad Al Sati, executive vice president Controls & Digitalisation Power Generation Services Division, Siemens Middle East.
The conference expects about 400 delegates that include key representatives from the government and private sectors, industry representatives and utilities experts from across the region.
Close to 100 local and international power and water companies from 13 countries (Austria, Bahrain, Germany, Hong Kong, Iran, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Spain, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, USA) are showcasing various products, technologies and services related to the sectors at the exhibition. The United Kingdom pavilion will feature 23 companies from the UK’s power and water industry.
Adding value to the exhibitor experience, Omanexpo has set up an online matchmaking facility that allows individuals and companies to meet with potential business partners during the event. The event that will conclude today is open to visitors from 10am to 7pm.
