MANCHESTER: Oman Air recently celebrated the launch of its new destination to Manchester in the United Kingdom (UK).

Several officials in Manchester affirmed that this direct route will contribute to opening wider avenues for cooperation between the Sultanate and the UK in general and Manchester in particular, which is the heart of northern England. Carl Austin, Lord Mayor of Manchester said that the direct route of Oman Air between Muscat and Manchester would be a transitional stage for bilateral cooperation between the two countries at all levels, especially as Manchester represents an economic, tourism and educational weight in northern England.

He affirmed that Manchester is looking forward at signing new partnerships with the Sultanate in the fields of trade, education and industry, calling on people of the two countries and the business community in particular to optimise the use of this route for the benefit of both sides.

Collette Roche, Deputy Managing Director of Manchester Airport expressed her pleasure of the new partnership with Oman Air. She explained that Oman Air’s daily flights between Muscat and Manchester represent starting point for cooperation between the two sides and this will be better enhanced during the next stage, thanks to this route.

She affirmed that this route represents an ideal opportunity for businessmen, whether Omani or British in Manchester and its environs to exchange visits and view investment opportunities available to both sides.

Victoria Praddock, Director of International Marketing at Marketing Manchester said that the direct route of Oman Air to Manchester is an opportunity to host Omani tourists and introduce them to the various tourist attractions available in Manchester.

She added that the new route also provides an ideal platform for cooperation among travel and tourism companies in the Sultanate with their counterparts in Manchester and Northern England to exchange tourist groups between the two sides.
