Goan Wing May Queen Ball on May 12

MUSCAT: The May Queen Ball is back in town as a part of the Indian Social Club’s Goan wing initiative, which will be held on Friday, May 12 at Hotel Sheraton, from 7pm to 1am.

At a pre-event press briefing held recently at Hotel Sheraton, Anthony Lourenco, convener - ISC Goan Wing, said, “The mega event is our sixth edition, and we hope to attract an excess of 600 people to this upcoming event. We have also pledged to support Shuroq Al Amal Al Alamia (Internatio­nal Rise of Hope).”

Linoshka Fernandes, May Queen 2016, who was not available for the press conference spoke about her experience on the May Queen 2016 contest at the ISC Goan Wing annual day. She encouraged the teenagers to take part in the contest, and requested the parents to support them.

Dr Zahra Abdullah Al Harmali, CEO and founder of Shuroq Al Amal Al Alamia, thanked the Goan Wing for choosing to support them for the noble cause. She briefed on the work carried out by the centre and exhorted residents of Muscat to come forward and support the various activities of the centre. Fiona Pulickal, 2nd runner-up of May Queen 2016, shared her experience and urged youth to grab this opportunit­y to boost their self-confidence. Islinda Nunes, Co Convener - Goan Wing, Melzer Menezes, cultural secretary, Savio Carvalho, Joint-Treasurer and Herman Estibeiro, Entertainm­ent secretary were also present.

Adding to the excitement of this year’s show is the presence of True Blue, one of the acclaimed bands of Goa. The talented six-member band comprising Zubin da Cruz (lead vocalist), Clinton Mascarenha­s (drums), Jerry Correia (Keyboardis­t), Elton Fernandes (Guitar), Revellino Fernandes (Bass guitarist) & Kris Saldanha (female vocalist) will perform songs in various languages such as English, Hindi, Konkani, Spanish, Portuguese and perform multiple genres in their own unique rendition.

Jeffery Manuel, a trendsette­r in the world of compering, will be the comparer for the event. The event is open to guests from all communitie­s and nationalit­ies.

The highpoint is the pageant that culminates in the selection of this year’s May Queen and two runners-up.
