Bank Sohar provides students with learning opportunities
MUSCAT: Bank Sohar recently hosted school students at its various branches across the Sultanate as part of continuous support to initiatives that help enrich education and enhance knowledge of the banking industry.
The event was organised by the bank and formed part of the Oman Banking Association’s (OBA) activities for Arab Financial Inclusion Day to help educate students on banking in general and the role of banks in the development of the country’s economy.
Munira Abdulnabi Macki, GM of HR and Corporate Support at Bank Sohar, said, “It was a pleasure hosting the students and providing them with a valuable learn- ing opportunity. The youth are the future of any country, which is why Bank Sohar always launches initiatives where students gain real world insight and an early induction into the working environment of a bank and pivotal role in the economy. The school field trip to our branches, underscores our commitment towards raising awareness and promoting the significance of the banking sector by allowing them to interact with our experienced personnel. It is also a perfect example of how Bank Sohar promotes a better understanding of the industry and the banking community, to the younger generation.”
During the brief educational sessions, several topics were presented to students including an Introduction to Omani Economy; Introduction to the Oman Banking Association; Banking and how it works in Oman; the banks’ contribution to Oman Financial Inclusion; and Role of Central Bank in Securing Banks and Maintaining the Omani Economy. The students also gained an inside perspective on basic operations of the bank, in addition to the products and services offered.
