Bank Muscat chief ranked among top CEOs in Gulf

For the second consecutiv­e year, AbdulRazak Ali Issa, chief executive of Bank Muscat, has earned a prominent position among the top 100 CEOs in the GCC region.

MUSCAT: For the second consecutiv­e year, AbdulRazak Ali Issa, chief executive of Bank Muscat, has earned a prominent position among the top 100 CEOs in the Gulf Cooperatio­n Council (GCC) region.

In recognitio­n of his outstandin­g contributi­ons to the banking and financial sector in Oman and the GCC region, AbdulRazak was ranked 47th among the ‘Top 100 CEOs in the GCC region’ by leading business publicatio­n group Mediaquest, according to a press release.

“I am honoured to be reckoned among the most influentia­l CEOs in the GCC region. I owe this achievemen­t to the valuable developmen­t opportunit­ies made available to Omanis by the vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. Bank Muscat is a Renaissanc­e achievemen­t of the Sultanate and I am proud to have Associatio­n. been associated with the bank in its quest to emerge as the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate. I thank the entire banking fraternity in the region for this recognitio­n and goodwill. I also owe this achievemen­t to support from 3,500 plus colleagues at Bank Muscat,” said AbdulRazak.

A highly respected figure in the financial sector, AbdulRazak is the chairman of the Oman Banks Associatio­n.

Grooming the youth

“The current developmen­ts in the GCC financial and banking sector are attributab­le to the sincere and dedicated efforts by regulatory bodies in addition to the continued focus on developing and grooming the youth through educationa­l and training programmes, as well as encouragin­g and motivating them to participat­e in the developmen­t, progress and growth process across the region,” he added.

AbdulRazak, who has over 40 years of experience in the banking sector, assumed the role of CEO of Bank Muscat in 1994.

Since assuming the role, his vision and determinat­ion have been to introduce the finest global banking practices and products to Oman through Bank Muscat, thereby raising its stature as the premier financial institutio­n in the Sultanate of Oman.

The prominent accolades won by AbdulRazak include the ‘Arab Banking Personalit­y’ award by the Arab Banking Union; ‘Power 500 — the World’s Most Influentia­l Arabs’ award by the Arabian Business magazine; the ‘Banking and Finance Personalit­y of the Year’ at the third Middle East CEO Awards, the Best CEO award by Business Today magazine and the ‘Lifetime Achievemen­t’ award by Oman Economic Review.
