MEDC BoD reviews progress
MUSCAT: The Board of Directors (BoD) of Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC), a member of Nama Group, recently organised a meeting at the company’s head office at Airport Heights.
It discussed various topics related to the performance of the company during the first quarter of 2017 as well as the follow-up of the implementation of the special strategies: customer services, human resources, asset management, HSE and communication. Moreover, there were briefs on the most vital projects.
The meeting was part of the periodic meetings held during the year, which aims to follow up the progress of the various activities and programmes that aims at achieving the interests of the shareholders and provide better services for its customers in the Muscat governorates especially with there is a situation of rapid increase in the annual demand for electricity.
The Ministry of Finance and the Public Authority for Electricity and Water are planning to implement the privatisation programme of MEDC. The privatisation aims at enhancing the participation of individuals and the Omani private sector in developing the basic infrastructure of the electricity sector as well as thee development. Privatisation will also increase the investment options available to Omani investors on the Muscat Securities Market.
