MUSCAT: The Tadhamun corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative launched by Bank Muscat, coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan, reached beneficiary homes in the governorate of Dakhiliyah.

Reiterating the bank’s dynamic ‘Let’s Do More’ vision and values of partnership, the Tadhamun convoy of vehicles carrying the bank’s employees and volunteers distributed basic electronic home appliances to beneficiary families identified by the Ministry of Social Development.

The objective of the CSR initiative is to address the requirements of beneficiary homes which do not have basic home appliances. Basic electronic home appliances were distributed to beneficiary homes in the wilayats of Bahla, Al Hamra, Sumayil, Bidbid, Izki and Manah, providing them with an opportunity for a better quality of life. The Tadhamun distribution will be carried out across Oman through the holy month of Ramadan.

The Tadhamun initiative is a fine example of the public-private partnership launched by the bank in association with the Ministry of Social Development to strengthen the hands of ben- eficiaries. Through the Tadhamun programme, the bank seeks to reaffirm its commitment to ‘Doing More’ for society as a whole.

Bank Muscat has lined up a series of programmes under the banner of ‘Ramadan Al Kheir’ to benefit different segments of society during Ramadan. As part of the bank’s sustainability vision, the distribution of basic home appliances to an average 150 families every year contributes to a safe, healthy environment in which children can be raised and adults enjoy comfortable lives.

Oman experiences a sub-tropical, dry and humid climate necessitating the requirements for refrigerators and air-conditioning units for the wellbeing of people. This helps the families to utilise their limited income on more important requirements.

Bank Muscat has the largest network of branches in the country, therefore staff at all levels are encouraged to join in the distribution of appliances to families in their areas. This further reiterates the bank’s commitment to partnership with the government and the local community in promoting sustainable development in Oman.

To date, the programme has successfully distributed refrigerators, freezers, air-conditioning units, washing machines, ovens/ cooking ranges and TVs to beneficiary families. The bank has also renovated homes belonging to social welfare families.

Since its inception, the Corporate Social Responsibility department of the flagship financial services provider in Oman has taken major strides in nurturing a socially responsible culture in the bank. All CSR programmes draw from the bank’s values of leadership and partnership, creating a positive impact on society. As the bank progresses on the path of sustainable development, new opportunities are explored. In line with the corporate ethos, bank employees are engaged in creating opportunities to help the community through various initiatives.

Bank Muscat is a pioneer of CSR activities in the banking sector in Oman. Reflecting the corporate ethos, the bank seizes every available opportunity to channel resources for creating sustainable, positive changes in communities by investing in their welfare to equip them for a better life.
