BankDhofar ‘TechMind’ to boost innovation
MUSCAT: As part of its endeavour to encourage youth minds to design, develop, and produce innovative ideas, BankDhofar recently announced its innovative tech competition “BD TechMind”.
The competition which offers cash prizes worth OMR10,000 for 3 winners is open for aspiring minds from 14-40 years old, where they may participate as individuals or groups of three members each to develop innovative ideas for future banking. Interested youth are invited to participate through filling in the online registration form.
On the competition, Dr Tariq Taha, AGM & Chief Information Officer, noted,“Stemming from our belief in the capabilities of the young minds in coming up with innovative offbeat ideas, we announced the first of its kind ‘BD TechMind’ competition. The youth are our future customers, and BankDhofar aims to support their state-of-the-art ideas which will serve them at the first place.”
Registration is open during June 1 to June 30; BankDhofar will then evaluate the applications and shortlist the best ideas. Selected participants will be contacted to start working on their prototype during July 2 to 13. Participants will then present their ideas/ services in front of a jury who will select three best services. Winners will be announced in a special event where OMR5,000 will be given to the first place winner, OMR3,000 for the second place winner and OMR2,000 for the third place winner.

Digital ideas
The ideas submitted should be innovative digital ideas, relevant to the banking industry, display innovative use of technology, and implementable. Additionally, participants are required to detail the start to end process of delivery.
“We are moving towards a digitalized world, and from the banking perspective we aspire to be at the forefront in terms of smart banking services. At BankDhofar, we opted to provide the chance for young minds to be part of our future smart banking thorough proposing their ideas and thoughts. We expect to see outstanding participations from school and college students, app developers and young entrepreneurs.” Dr Taha added.
