Z-Corp organises sports competitions

MUSCAT: As a step to sow the spirit of team building and oneness among its staff, The Zubair Corporation (Z-Corp)’s corporate human resources department is conducting sports competition under its ‘Zubair Sporting Event’ initiative.

Last year the group had successfully unveiled the initiative as part of the group’s shared value of ‘collaboration’. It had also conducted the first Zubair Olympics tournament to promote people engagement across the Zubair Group of Companies.

This year, as part of Zubair Sporting Event’s Ramadan sessions, football, cricket and volleyball tournaments are being held between teams of Z-Corp’s group companies at various venues. Cricket was added this year to encourage and elevate the employee relations driven by open communication and culture, involvement with causes, achieving purpose and fulfilment with teamwork and compassion.

The football and volleyball matches being held under the ‘Zubair Sporting Event’s Ramadan session will go till the June 22 at Al Amal Club. The cricket tournament will go on until June 9 at Al Hail Cricket Club. Last year, employees who participated in the competitions were honoured for their exceptional performance.

Stressing that group hopes to foster loyalty and unity among the employees of Z-Corp, a senior official at the corporate human resources department said, “Collaborative events not only motivate employees but also encourage them to continue striving for better performance level. Encouraging positive collaboration and uplifting employee relations is one of the underlying factors in progressing towards becoming the employer of choice in the Sultanate.”

Highlighting the importance of team building through such events, a Z-Corp official said, “Such competitions will improve abilities, elevate output, advance team culture and inspire staff interaction. By organising these games, we have been successful in creating an atmosphere of camaraderie among employees within the corporation, as we car and always aspire to do that extra bit for our employees to exhibit their passion in the true spirit of sportsmanship.”

Besides team building the matches have been promoting the significance of sports among Z-Corp staff. “Elucidating that ZCorp understands how to create a special environment, an employee who participated in the sports said, “It gives us a strong sense of inclusion and togetherness. Our management recognises that a driven and content team is a significant constituent of any prosperous company.”

Z-Corp’s HR practices include a solid model that focuses on engagement and empowerment that seeks to generate and guarantee a meaningful relationship between the employee and the organisation.

Through the initiative Z-Corp hopes to develop teams that would represent the company at various sporting events within Oman, in future, finally resulting in ‘Zubair Olympic’. Furthermore, these teams would be branded with sponsors once it becomes self-sustained to represent Zubair brand in the field of sports within Oman and flourish by expanding its wings across the region and beyond.
