Bank Sohar supports Al Noor Association for Blind
MUSCAT: As part of its consistent corporate social responsibility initiatives, Bank Sohar extended its support for the activities of the Al Noor Association for the Blind Al Dakhiliya Branch for the third consecutive year under its newly launched CSR campaign – Sohar Al Atta, building on a strong CSR focus to create resilient communities and empower societies.
This year’s donation to the association’s Al Dakhiliya branch will contribute towards the purchase of Braille sense devices and impart training on mobile phone usage, which will assist in enriching their lives.
The donation cheque was handed over at Bank Sohar’s Nizwa Branch to Hamed Khalfan Said Al Rashdi, Center Manager of Al Noor Association for the Blind – Al Dakhiliya Branch, by Mazin Mahmood Al Raisi, AGM & Head of Marketing and Customer Experience at Bank Sohar, in the presence of Juma Masaaod Al Dawudi, Senior Manager Nizwa Branch, Bank Sohar.
Commenting on the contribution, Munira Abdulnabi Maki, GM of HR & Corporate Support, at Bank Sohar said, “Community development has been a fundamental principle at Bank Sohar since inception and we have led the industry’s advocacy for greater involvement of the private sector in community based initiatives. Our continuous support towards the Al Noor Association for the Blind over the last years stands testimony to this commitment.
“We applaud the association for working so dedicatedly in ensuring that the visually impaired can make positive contributions towards the society just like any other individual.”
Bank Sohar has been continuously supporting the Al Noor Association for the Blind and has in the past extended its support to the association’s branches in Sohar, Salalah, Muscat and Al Dakhiliya. Thanking Bank Sohar for its continuous support, Mohammed bin Adeem Al Subaihi, chairman of Al Noor Association for the Blind – Nizwa Branch said, “We are grateful to have the support of Bank Sohar during the previous years. Their engagement in our initiatives has helped us make a difference in the lives of Oman’s visually impaired citizens.
“Thanks to their generosity, we have been able to purchase Braille reading systems for our members of the Al Dakhiliya branch. Moreover, their continuous support helps us achieve our objective to provide support services in social and vocational development to integrate our members into mainstream society.”
“The association also concentrates efforts on providing assistance to educational institutions for the visually impaired, implementing programmes to improve living standards and coordinate with responsible authorities on potential employment opportunities. Therefore, financial assistance and support from the private sector offers expedient solutions to help fulfil these objectives,” Al Subaihi added.
