Zubair Sporting Tournament concludes

As part of Zubair Sporting Event sessions, football, cricket and volleyball tournaments were held between teams of Z-Corp’s group companies at various venues

MUSCAT: The second edition of The Zubair Corporation (Z-Corp)’s yearly sport initiative Zubair Sporting Tournament concluded recently. The closing event was held in the presence of Hani Al Zubair board member and the chairman of the HR Committee, Z-Corp.

As a step to sow the spirit of team building and oneness among its employees, Z-Corp’s Corporate Human Resources Department had conducted a sports competition under the Zubair Sporting Event initiative.

The competition was part of ZCorp’s keenness to promote sports and healthy living among its employees and to create an atmosphere of camaraderie and team spirit among employees within the corporation. The group had successfully unveiled the initiative in 2016 as part of the group’s shared values. It had also conducted the first Zubair tournament.

As part of Zubair Sporting Event sessions, football, cricket and volleyball tournaments were held between teams of Z-Corp’s group companies at various venues. Cricket was added this year to encourage involvement of more employees as the group aspires to encourage more staff participation.

Hani Al Zubair said, “Z-Corp’s HR practices include a strong policy that focuses on engagement and empowerment that seeks to generate and guarantee a meaningful relationship between the employee and the organisation. The 2017 Second Yearly Sport Tournament is part of the group’s strategy and vision to achieve shared values. The second edition witnessed keen competition among the participating teams.”

Explaining that the champion- ship aimed to provide a platform for talented sportsmen from different companies of the group, Hani Al Zubair added, “We also hoped to foster loyalty and unity among the employees of Z-Corp.”

He said he was happy that championship had witnessed great participation from the staff from different companies of the group.

Football

The football championship saw a tussle between Zubair Automotive Group and Oasis Water Company in the final. Zubair Automotive Group won the final, which witnessed a close competition. Oasis Water and Barr Al Jissah finished second and third respectively.

The teams that participated in the competition included two teams from Zubair Automotive Group, Zubair Electric, Oasis Water Company, Barr Al Jissah, Bait Al Zubair, OOISS and OCS Infotech.

Volleyball

The volleyball championship witnessed a close competition between six teams, namely Bait Al Zubair, Barr Al Jissah, Zubair Automotive Group, OOISS, OCS Infotech and Oasis Water. Barr Al Jissah won the first place, Oasis Water won the second place, and Zubair Automotive finished third.

Cricket

Nine teams participated in the cricket championship. They were Zubair Electric, a team each from Zubair Automotive Group, Barr Al Jissah, Zubair Furnishing, Oasis Water Company, Elco International Engineering, Z-Corp, OOISS and Business International Group. Zubair Automotive Group won the championship and Oasis Water Company was the runners up.
