Z-Corp completes 3rd module of ELDP

MUSCAT: On August 7, the Zubair Corporatio­n (Z-Corp) conducted the closing ceremony of another successful­ly completed module of its Executive Leadership Developmen­t Programme (ELDP).

The module focused on ‘ Balanced Scorecard and Setting KPIs’, the third out of eight modules of the ELDP, a programme that is one of its kind in Oman, and was certified by the European Institute For Strategy Execution.

The ELDP is an initiative aimed at developing the future layer of management for the Z-Corp Group. It consists of eight modules, delivered over a period of 2 years, covering a broad aspect of leadership subjects including, strategy, innovation, leadership, risk management and corporate social responsibi­lity.

The ELDP was designed inhouse by the Zubair Corporate HR and delivered in partnershi­p with ShiftIN Partners; an internatio­nally recognised consulting and training firm specialise­d in Strategy Execution and Innovation, with a strong focus on capability building.

The ceremony started with a welcome and congratula­tory message from C. S. Badrinath, the Group CEO, who expressed his pleasure on the progress of the ELDP programme and applauded the participan­ts on successful­ly completing three modules to date, into the programme.

Following this, a keynote presented by Professor German Alfonso, who spoke to the talents via web conference from Sao Paulo – Brazil. The expert, who has worked closely with Kaplan & Norton for over 10 years across the world, highlighte­d the importance of ‘having the right KPIs’ in order to drive the high-performanc­e organisati­on.

“Having the right KPIs is important, but also it is important the process how you achieve buyin from the organisati­on,” said Alfonso, who has advised global renowned organisati­on such as the European Developmen­t Bank and Harvard University on how to execute their strategies.

During this module, the participan­ts learned about the principles of the Balanced Scorecard and the strategy execution practice. They acquired the understand­ing on how to build and implement individual KPIs. The module walked them through the principle of the BSC, from how to define key performanc­e indicators, to the importance of linking individual performanc­e with organisati­onal performanc­e. After the successful completion of the 3 days training course, the participan­ts had to develop and submit a balanced scorecard for their individual department­s. The talents declared during the ceremony that they have already put in practice such performanc­e framework.

After the key note, Carlos Guevara, the partner at ShiftIN Partners, the consulting firm selected by Z-Corp to project manages the ELDP. Guevara gave the audience a brief overview of the module as well as a presentati­on over the ‘State of Strategy Execution (SOSE)’ Middle East Edition.

“This is the first research of its kind to focus only on GCC countries,” said Guevara who also highlighte­d that one of the main conclusion­s of the research is that strategies fail to deliver result, not because of lack of planning, but due to poor execution.

At the end of the ceremony, all talents received their certificat­es from the hands of Badrinath and Mohamed Al Hasani – chief communicat­ions officer of the group. “Performanc­e management is important in our organizati­on and I’m very proud to see the progress made by the Zubair Team throughout this module,” said Badrinath.

The ceremony finished with a group picture of all the participan­ts together with the management team.
