MUSCAT: As part of its commitment to enhancing traffic safety in Oman, Bank Sohar recently made a donation to the Oman Road Safety Association (ORSA) for the fourth year as part of its continuous CSR initiatives under its ‘Sohar Al Atta’ campaign.
The support is among the list of initiatives that the bank has done towards creating awareness on road safety and safe driving under its ‘Rakiz Wa Souq’ campaign. This year’s contribution will go towards supporting the association’s awareness campaigns directed towards the public and specifically schools.
The donation cheque was handed over to Ali Ahmed Al Barwani, CEO of Oman Road Safety Association (ORSA) at the association’s headquarters by Mazin Mahmood Al Raisi, Senior AGM & Head of Marketing and Customer Experience at Bank Sohar.
Highlighting the bank’s support, Munira Abdulnabi Macki, GM of HR and Corporate Support at Bank Sohar said, “Our contribution and support towards Oman Road Safety Association since 2013 has helped the association continue their campaign on road safety and fulfil their objective of raising crucial awareness on traffic and road safety. We are once again honoured to be supporting the association in its campaign for greater public awareness and education on the importance of safe driving. Over the last four years, we have partnered with the ORSA on numerous road safety initiatives to spread awareness. These drives have been part of our own dedicated focus on matters of road safety, which we have pioneered for Oman’s banking sector since our inception. In addition, the association’s awareness campaigns also include Bank Sohar’s road safety initiative through the ‘Rakiz Wa Souq’ campaign, which periodically dispatches tips on road safety that focuses on children.”
Thanking the bank for its continuous support, Al Barwani said, “We are grateful to Bank Sohar for supporting us to effectively carry out our efforts on road safety. The bank has corroborated on numerous initiatives that have helped us in our mission to educate people on adopting safe driving habits. We have seen them lead the way for the private sector in supporting the cause of road safety and we hope that this will encourage more corporates to be part of our overall goal to make Oman’s roads the safest in the world.”
Bank Sohar holds the distinction of being one of the pioneers for the cause of road safety in the Sultanate’s banking sector, leading numerous awareness drives on the subject in school zones and education institutions.
