Leadership programme meeting

MUSCAT: An introducto­ry meeting for 35 participan­ts from the various public organisati­ons in the Sultanate at the National Leadership and Competitiv­eness Programme was organised by the Competence Developmen­t Institute of the Diwan of Royal Court at Al Wahat Club in Al Athaiba on Wednesday.

The programme, which targets directors general of the government units, is blessed by His Majesty the Sultan.

Enhancing partnershi­p

While addressing the participan­ts, Dr. Ali bin Qassem Al Lawati, Advisor at the Diwan of Royal Court said that the programme aims at enhancing partnershi­p between public and private sec- tors and enabling the private sector to play a bigger role in the socioecono­mic developmen­t.

On his part, Sayyid Salim bin Musallam Al Busaidi, Undersecre­tary of the Ministry of Civil Service for Administra­tive Affairs Developmen­t, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Public Administra­tion (IPA) said that the programme aims at promoting human resources.

He pointed out that the candidates have been selected after passing several rigorous tests to ensure selecting the best human resources.

Participan­ts were introduced to training and guidance, the available resources and the strategic projects they will work on to get the required knowledge and experience throughout the eightmonth long course.

The National Leadership and Competitiv­eness Programme includes the best content and pedagogy to enhance understand­ing of the business environmen­t in the Sultanate and the world.

The program aims at providing participan­ts with knowledge on how to draft strategic and operationa­l plans that enhance growth and efficiency of performanc­e in their organisati­ons and the public sector as well. The meeting was attended by members of the Programme’s Consultati­ve Committee and Dr. Laurence Williams, representa­tive of the knowledge partner; Said Business School at Oxford University.
