Bank Muscat extends support to tourism media workshop

MUSCAT: Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, in step with its ‘Let’s Do More’ vision and commitment to partnershi­p in sustainabl­e developmen­t, extended support to a workshop on tourism media hosted by Omani Journalist­s Associatio­n in Salalah under the auspices of Salim Aufait Al Shanfari, chairman of Dhofar Municipali­ty.

Journalist­s from across the Sultanate specialise­d in the field of tourism and hospitalit­y sector attended the three-day programme held as part of Salalah Tourism Festival.

Bank Muscat pursues a dynamic communicat­ion policy, maintainin­g strong relations with the media. The bank reckons that a strong media is required to support the efforts of developmen­t and serve as an effective tool in showcasing the achievemen­ts of the country. The bank commended the efforts of Omani journalist­s for playing an important role in supporting the progress and developmen­t of Oman.

Yasir Salim Tabook, senior regional manager - Dhofar, said, “The support to the gathering of media representa­tives in Oman comes in appreciati­on of the important role played by media in the developmen­t march of Oman. As the nation’s leading financial institutio­n, the bank aims to convey the message of support to all segments of society in contributi­ng to the developmen­t of Oman.”

In step with the government’s economic diversific­ation programme, the Imprints CSR initiative launched by the bank has drawn up a programme in associatio­n with the Ministry of Tourism to support start-ups, encouragin­g Omani entreprene­urship in the tourism sector. The programme aims to encourage Omani youth to focus on providing basic amenities at Oman’s tourist attraction­s, thereby ensuring sustainabl­e sources of income for the local community.

Awad bin Saeed Baqwair, president of Omani Journalist­s Associatio­n, thanked Bank Muscat for the support extended for the workshop on tourism media. The private sector support and partnershi­p with the government is important to develop the country’s tourism sector, he added.

Bank Muscat has made its presence felt at Salalah Tourism Festival 2017, the Sultanate’s annual tourism and cultural extravagan­za presently under way until August 31. The bank has extended lead support to the festival as part of its commitment to promoting national celebratio­ns within the framework of showcasing Oman as a unique tourist destinatio­n.

The partnershi­p with Salalah Tourism Festival is an earnest attempt by Bank Muscat to propagate the core family values held dear by Omanis.

Committed to making the event a grand success, Bank Muscat aims to unite citizens, residents and visitors in sharing the good times and discoverin­g the joy of being connected.
