Bank Sohar promotes Omani staff

MUSCAT: As part of its strategic plans to develop the capabiliti­es of Omani youth in order to qualify them for leadership positions within the organisati­on, Bank Sohar has announced the appointmen­t of Mahira Saleh Al Raisi, as head of Human Resources, and Mutheer Sulaiman Al Kalbani as in charge of Learning & Organisati­onal Developmen­t.

Commenting on the bank’s progressiv­e strategy for future developmen­t to expand the scope of responsibi­lities to capable Omani candidates, Sasi Kumar, acting CEO at Bank Sohar said, “We have set in place clear plans and strategies that develop the skills of our talented Omani staff, and achieve higher level of leadership positions within the bank through special programmes to develop and qualify them.

“Both Mahira Al Raisi and Mutheer Al Kalbani have been groomed by the bank to take up higher responsibi­lities, and on behalf of everyone at Bank Sohar, I would like to congratula­te them and wish that they achieve even greater heights within or organisati­on.”

Emphasisin­g the significan­ce of empowering Omani youth, Munira Abdulnabi Macki, GM – HR and Corporate Support, said, “The new promotion supports the achievemen­t of our business goals which are to enhance operationa­l efficienci­es and include younger capable Omanis in man- agement roles. It also forms part of our plans to provide career enhancemen­t opportunit­ies for our talented Omani staff. The new promotions also reinforce our strategies for Omanisatio­n of senior management positions, which will help young and ambitious Omanis build successful careers within the organisati­on.”

Mahira is an HR profession­al with an extensive experience of 18 years in human resources management. Having previously worked with HSBC Oman, she joined Bank Sohar in 2007 and has held several positions within the HR Department.

Her strengths lie in the implementa­tion of HR strategies by department accountabi­lities, leading and supporting of HR policies and best practices across all areas and has succeeded in fields related to HR. She has a Master’s degree from the University of Leicester, the UK in Human Resources Developmen­t.

Mutheer has a work experience of nine years in multiple areas in the bank including branch support, payments, relationsh­ip banking and human resources. He was heading the Organisati­onal Developmen­t Unit in HR prior to taking up his current role as ‘In charge of Learning Centre and Organisati­on Developmen­t’. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Arts from Sultan Qaboos University where he specialise­d in translatio­n. He has also completed Certified Psychologi­cal Occupation­al Assessor from the British Psychologi­cal Society and holds a Diploma in HR Practice from the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Developmen­t (CIPD).
