More than 9,000 animals slaughtered for Eid Al Adha
MUSCAT: More than 9,000 livestock were slaughtered in various municipal slaughterhouses during the Eid Al Adha holidays, from 8th Dhul Hijja (August 30) to third day of Eid Al Adha (September 3).
The total number of slaughtered livestock stood at 9,299, Muscat Municipality has reported. The municipal slaughterhouses in the wilayats of Seeb and Al Amerat increased their working hours. The Seeb Slaughterhouse registered an increase of livestock slaughtered on the first day of Eid Al Adha to 2,116 compared to 1,700 during the same day last year.
Muscat Municipality monitored slaughterhouses in Seeb, where “6,286 livestock were recorded slaughtered, from August 30 to September 3”, officials announced in a statement online. “The animals slaughtered were 5,989 goats and sheep, 297 cows and camels,” the statement added.
“Additionally, 3,013 livestock were recorded to have been slaughtered in the municipal slaughterhouse in Amerat, including 2,923 goats and sheep, 90 cows and camels,” said the Municipality. Last year, authorities reported that 6,248 livestock were slaughtered in municipal slaughterhouses in South Asharqiyah Governorate during Eid Al Fitr holidays.
