Maisarah extends support to Salalah International Forum
MUSCAT: Maisarah Islamic Banking Services supported the 1st Salalah International Forum on Islamic Finance.
The forum was inaugurated under the patronage of Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar and attended by Hamood bin Sangour Al Zadjali, executive president of the Central Bank of Oman.
The event formed a platform for Islamic banking entities to discuss Sharia compliant banking related issues. Representing BankDhofar at the forum was Abdul Hakeem Al Ojaili, CEO of BankDhofar while representing Maisarah was Sohail Niazi, chief executive of Islamic Banking.
Commenting on Maisarah’s role Niazi noted: “Islamic Banking has witnessed steady growth in Oman. Such forums form a suitable hub to discuss means to overcome challenges facing Islamic banking and increase its effective contribution to economic growth. This participation is in line with Maisarah’s strategy to create awareness and drive research and development in the field of Islamic banking.”
The forum was organised in August by College of Banking and Financial Studies in cooperation with Tawafuq Consultancy - Malaysia and highlighted a number of Sharia compliant finance related issues, including the role of Islamic finance in economic development.
Additionally, the event promoted knowledge exchange among industry stakeholders and identified solutions to common challenges faced by practitioners. The conference provided attendees with in-depth insights into the rapidly growing Islamic finance industry.
