IS Ghubra organises leadership seminar
MUSCAT: Indian School Al Ghubra (ISG) organised a twoday leadership seminar recently for the Prefectorial Body and the members of the Student Council.
Eminent speakers who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership capabilities in their respective fields educated the students about the tenets of leadership and illustrated the challenges that every effective leader must overcome on the road to success. The Principal, Papri Ghosh, inaugurated the seminar and emphasised the importance of inculcating a spirit of leadership and responsibility in the youth.
The first day saw two speakers, Said Ahmed Al Badai, deputy general manager (Branches) of Bank Muscat and Captain N. Hariharan, Defence Adviser to the Embassy of India who addressed the student leaders in a highly informative and vibrant session. Having climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and embarked on several gruelling road trips through the desert, Badai inspired the students with many of his remarkable feats, shared with the students his novel strategy of APIC - Analysing, Preparing, Im- plementing, and Control. Captain Hariharan, an accomplished naval officer, imparted to the students the lessons he has garnered from a life at sea and stressed the importance of ‘leading by example’, a message that was imbibed by all present there. Captain Hariharan inspired the students with his talk and his presentation on the Indian Armed Forces.
On day two of the leadership seminar, Premila Ramesh, director of Nrityanjali Dance Academy and a member of the International Council of Dance, and Nalin Chandna, the CEO of National Gas Company, shared with the students their experiences as leaders in two diverse fields. Premila spoke about how her years of experience as a professional dancer have taught her the importance of motivation and empowerment. She accentuated the importance of striking a balance between tradition and modernity and that virtues and morality must be a good leader is guiding lamp. Chandna who is a leadership trainer too educated the students about the traits that every successful leader must embody.
