NBO holds graduation ceremony for its staff

The ‘Core Banking Programme’ targets junior staff members and is over a period of eight weeks

MUSCAT: National Bank of Oman’s Academy of Excellence, the training and developmen­t arm of the bank, said it recently held a graduation ceremony for the most recent employees that completed its ‘Core Banking Programme’.

The training programme targets junior staff members and is over a period of eight weeks.

It consists of a wide range of bespoke courses that are specifi- cally designed by NBO to create a pool of profession­al bankers that possess all the skills required to enjoy a successful career in the banking sector.

Nasser Al Hajri, chief corporate services officer at NBO, said: “In a banking industry characteri­sed by high competitio­n, NBO firmly believes that our skilled and knowledgea­ble workforce is one of our biggest differenti­ators. The importance of having highqualit­y human resources cannot be overlooked, which is why we are focused on continuous training and developing our staff.

“With long-term programs such as this, we are committed to our objective of being the best workplace in the country.”

In addition to the traditiona­l methods of teaching, the programme also incorporat­ed a series of case studies, exercises and roleplayin­g, enabling participan­ts to get a first-hand understand­ing and appreciati­on of banking concepts and practices.

NBO’s Core Banking Programme is part of a series of courses hosted by the bank’s Academy of Excellence aimed at upgrading and refining employee’s skills. Workshops and programmes are available to staff members across all levels of the bank, with the belief that a well-trained workforce is not only a great asset to the bank but is also an enabling contributi­on to the Sultanate’s economy.
