Omani women congratula­ted

Praising the role played by women in nation building, the Council of Ministers has wished them further success and progress

MUSCAT: On the directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Council of Ministers has congratula­ted the Omani woman on the anniversar­y of the Omani Woman’s Day.

In a statement issued here today, the Council of Ministers said, “Celebratio­n of the Omani Woman’s Day came as a means of embodying the care and attention accorded to woman. This attention enabled (the Omani) woman to occupy her deserved place in society. Hence the 17th of October every year celebrates women’s status as partners in national action alongside man.

“Success stories of (the) Omani woman in the workplace in public and private domains are plenty and noteworthy. (The Omani) woman played constructi­ve roles in economic and social fields, and in literature, besides her basic role in the upbringing of generation­s, enhancing of family ties and fostering social harmony.

“The Omani woman has an ever-expanding role in the nation building service. She has contribute­d to all fields of work, in addi- tion to her keenness on forming a responsibl­e family, grooming the offspring and ensuring quality in her work. The Government will spare no effort in providing more support to the Omani woman and engaging her in all sectors of work and productivi­ty so that she could continue to shoulder her responsibi­lities in consolidat­ing the country’s comprehens­ive developmen­t and safeguardi­ng its achievemen­ts.

“The Council of Ministers wishes Omani woman further success and progress.”

Meanwhile, the State Council organised a discussion on “The Omani Woman: Achievemen­ts and aspiration­s” under the auspices of Dr. Suad bint Mohammed Al Lawati, deputy to chairman of the State Council. The opening was attended by secretary general of the State Council and a number of members of the State Council and the Council of Oman.
