MUSCAT: National Bank of Oman (NBO) opened its doors to all females across the Sultanate for a special event celebrating this year’s Omani Women’s Day.

The occasion was the latest edition of Women@NBO, an initiative that inspires females to achieve personal and professional fulfilment, and will take place at NBO’s new head office in Al Azaiba.

Inspirational guests Dr Muna Mahfoudh, the first Radio and TV presenter in Oman; and Ahlam Al Maqbali, an entrepreneur who built a successful platform to help women grow their businesses, participated in a panel discussion, sharing their journeys, speaking about the challenges they have overcome, and the lessons they have learnt that have contributed to their success.

Women from every corner of the Sultanate travelled to Muscat to celebrate Omani Women’s Day at NBO’s new head office, including students, entrepreneurs, journalists, musicians, executives and artists. In total, 140 women from a broad range of professions and industries attend the one-off event.

Commenting on the Women@ NBO event, Ahmed Al Musalmi, CEO said: “Omani Women’s Day is an important date in the Sultanate’s calendar, so we are delighted to mark it with this unique event. We want to show females how valuable their contributions are, and inspire them to break the glass ceiling, and remove gender stereotypes.”

NBO has many women operating at senior levels of the organisation, including its Chairperson Sayyidah Rawan Al Said. The bank has further plans to continue growing these numbers over time.

“Our special guests have truly remarkable stories, and we are honoured to welcome them. Their contributions to society have been invaluable, and we are delighted to open our doors so we can all learn from each other’s experiences,” Salma Al Jaaidi, CRO added.

Women@NBO events are held quarterly and are part of the bank’s broader series of initiatives to ensure NBO offers the most compelling training programme and career path available in the Sultanate’s financial services industry.
