Z-Corp launches sixth module of ELDP

MUSCAT: Reaching yet another major milestone, the Zubair Corporatio­n (Z-Corp) launched the sixth module of the Executive Leadership Developmen­t Programme (ELDP).

The sixth module focused on ‘Strategic Project Management and Managing Stakeholde­rs’ and was led by Prof Marc Karschies, a PMP certified profession­al with internatio­nal experience in customer service and who has a track record of managing large-scale services culture transforma­tion initiative­s.

Designed to help employees with workforce succession planning, ELDP is an initiative aimed at developing high calibre employees of Z-Corp as part of the group’s talent management programme initiative SEED. Through this programme, which is only common among the best corporatio­ns in the world, Z-Corp has set a new standard for corporate leadership developmen­t in the Sultanate. The ELDP is a holistic, rotational three years programme designed to equip participan­ts with hands-on experience in different key roles across Z-Corp. The ELDP consists of several modules, covering a broad aspect of leadership subjects including, strategy, innovation, leadership, risk management and corporate social responsibi­lity.

Speaking about the session, Prof Karschies said, “I really enjoy working with such a dynamic group of individual­s.” Prof Karschies is a Six Sigma Black Belt certified, a professor and executive trainer at HULT Internatio­nal Business School, and Lecturer on Project Management & innovation at Middlesex Universiti­es, and an assessor at the prestigiou­s Dubai Quality Award.

The module covered five consecutiv­e days workshop during which participan­ts reviewed the essential project management skills and techniques required for successful projects and discovered how they relate to the main practices of the PMP certificat­ion. The workshop also focused on project management, which is the process of planning, organising and managing resources to achieve the organisati­onal objective.

The course followed the structure of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide), its process groups, processes and knowledge areas, and how they all interconne­ct. At the end of the course, the participan­ts were ready to take the certificat­ion exam of the PMP.

During the workshop, the participan­ts were provided with the essential tools to improve confidence and performanc­e at their workplace, through the effective use of business negotiatio­n and influencin­g skills practised in the Middle East and around the world. The session covered the structure of the negotiatin­g process, giving talents the effective negotiatio­n strategies and skills needed to succeed in today’s competitiv­e and dynamic business scenarios.
