MSM index ends lower

The top gainer was Oman Education & Training, up 3.52 per cent, while the top loser was Oman Oil Marketing.

MUSCAT: Followed by regional cues, MSM30 index ended lower by 0.93 per cent to close at 5,031.16 points. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 726.53 points, down by 0.88 per cent. Galfar Engineerin­g was the most active regarding volume while Oman Oil Marketing was the most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer was Oman Education & Training Institute, up 3.52 per cent while the top loser was Oman Oil Marketing, with a loss of 4.52 per cent.

A total number of 639 trades were executed today, generating a turnover of OMR23.74 million with 9.2 million shares changing hands. Out of 44 traded securities, 4 advanced, 24 declined, and 16 remained unchanged. Local Investors remained net buyers for OMR22.77 million while GCC and Arab investors were net sellers for OMR21.64 million followed by foreign investors for OMR135,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index down by 0.67 per cent to close at 7,338.98 points. Al Sharqiya Investment, Al Anwar Holding , Bank Muscat and Al Madina Investment declined by 3.57 per cent, 2.07 per cent, 1.94 per cent and 1.67 per cent, respective­ly.

Industry Index ended at 6,827.35 points, down by 0.67 per cent. Anwar Ceramic, Oman Fisheries, Al Jazeera Steel Product and Galfar Engineerin­g fell by 2.94 per cent, 1.55 per cent, 1.53 per cent and 1.23 per cent, respective­ly.

Services Index fell by 0.67 per cent to close at 2,545.31 points. Oman Education & Training Institute and Batinah Power gained by 3.52 per cent and 0.71 per cent, respective­ly. -
