Hearing aids for school students
Hearing aids were distributed to students from families receiving social security support and having limited incomes
MUSCAT: Hearing aids were distributed to a number of students with hearing disabilities attending Al Amal school for the deaf by Omani Association for Hearing Impaired in Al Khuwair .
The event was held under the auspices of Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura and was attended by Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Massan, Chief Executive Officer of Oman LNG Development Foundation.
Officials distributed hearing aids to eligible students from families receiving social security support and having limited incomes, who are attending those government schools, which integrate the hearing and deaf, or private schools.
The project assisted 112 students who received hearing aids. The Majlis Al Shura Chairman expressed his pleasure on this occasion, noting, “I feel pleased being at the Omani Association for Hearing Disabilities. It has continued to come to our attention about the tremendous effort achieved by the Association, and a good example of this is Sultan Al Ameri, the first deaf TV presenter in the Arab World.
“We are proud of his achievements and efforts to enhance the welfare of the deaf.
“He provides a very good example to all that a disability is not the end of your path or a barrier to your success. It is hard work, requiring much effort, along with facing your challenges and overcoming them, which is what achieves success. Today, Sultan is considered to be a bright star, along with the many bright stars in the Sultanate, and in the Arab world, as well, and this is a great signal to his peers, specifically those with disabilities.” Full story @ timesofoman.com/oman
