Majlis Office discusses panel candidate names

MUSCAT: Majlis Al Shura’s Office held its first periodic meeting of the third annual sitting (20172018) of the 8th term 2015-2018 to discuss the lists of candidates for the chairmanship of the committees and the deputy-chairpersons of the Standing Committees of the Majlis.

The panels include the Legislative and Legal Committee, the Economic and Financial Committee, the Health and Environ- ment Committee, Education and Scientific Research Committee, Services and Social Development Committee, Youth and Human Resources Committee, Food and Water Security Committee and Media and Culture Committee.

Majlis Al Shura’s Office is responsible for setting up a plan for the Majlis Al Shura’s activities and assisting its committees in establishing the rules governing their work and coordinating their activ- ities according to the internal provisions of Majlis Al Shura. It also supervises the activity of Majlis Al Shura and its committees and assisting the members of Majlis Al Shura in carrying out their responsibilities. It follows up the work of the committees and their reports, in addition to setting up the agenda of the meetings, taking into account the issues referred to it by His Majesty the Sultan, the draft laws submitted by the Govern- ment, which have been completed by the relevant committees, as well as current issues, and others.

Majlis Al Shura will hold its second regular session of the third annual sitting tomorrow, during which it will discuss a series of agreements referred to it by the Council of Ministers, in addition to a number of ministerial responses on a number of parliamentary questions submitted by members of Majlis Al Shura.
