Oman Avenues Mall invites people to witness history being made on November 18

MUSCAT: For Oman’s 47th National Day, on November 18, Oman Avenues Mall is inviting the people of Muscat and Oman to come and witness history being made, with a Guinness World Records official attempt to create the world’s largest 3D national flag built exclusivel­y from Lego bricks.

The flag for the Guinness World Records attempt will be in the form of Oman’s national flag and will feature a width of 4 metres and an overall height of 2.2 metres. A team of experts from Stack Events will construct it, and an estimated 168,000 Lego bricks will be required to complete it.

Visitors to the mall will be able to witness the team in action starting from Thursday, November 16, and an official Guinness World Records adjudicato­r will then judge the final display on November 18.

Following the achievemen­t of this Guinness World Records title, the 3D national flag will be inaugurate­d. Representa­tives from both the Oman Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Education will be present for the inaugurati­on ceremony, along with the mall’s senior management. The flag will then be left on display at the mall for all to see.

Oman Avenues Mall is honoured to be able to celebrate the day with this exciting Guinness World Records official attempt, where the people of Oman can come and witness history being made with the creation of the world’s largest 3D national flag – in the form of the Sultanate of Oman’s national flag – built exclusivel­y from Lego bricks.”

Luke Reveruzzi, creative director, Stack Events – the expert team responsibl­e for building the flag – said, “We are excited to be working with Oman Avenues Mall and Lulu Group Internatio­nal, and attempting such an amazing record for the first time.”

On November 18, the inaugurati­on of the official Guinness World Records attempt for the largest 3D national flag sculpture built exclusivel­y from Lego bricks will take place in the Oman Avenues Mall main atrium at 11am.

There will also be several 47th National Day-themed festivitie­s on the go throughout the day, including music performanc­es by a traditiona­l Omani band from 6pm – 8pm. On the final day, Oman Avenues Mall will also be handing out gifts and souvenirs to visitors.

The official Guinness World Records attempt for the largest 3D national flag sculpture built exclusivel­y from Lego bricks is set to be a highlight of the Oman Avenues Mall ‘Oman, My Heart’ campaign, which kicked off on October 12, and which is scheduled to run until November 30.
