Kims Oman launches antenatal classes for expecting mothers
MUSCAT: For every woman, the journey from pregnancy to delivery is the most valuable one and is utmost enjoyable when accurate and timely guidance is given by experts. To facilitate this very journey of expecting mothers, Kims Oman Hospital’s ( KOH) Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology has launched a series of antenatal classes.
The first of the series of antenatal classes were held at the hospital last week and was attended by 30 participants. The session was divided into four segments and lectures and presentation were delivered by the hospital’s highly experienced team of professional doctors, nurses and paramedic staff.
Dr Girija, head of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, explained the participants about pregnancy care through new technology. She also stressed the importance of being active through regular exercises during the pregnancy period.
Dr Shalaka, a senior gynaecologist, focused on painless delivery and suggested how epidural anaesthesia gives relief from unbearable pain during deliveries.
Dr Shashiraj Eswarappa, consultant – Internal Medicine and Medical Superintendent at KOH, said: “We are delighted to start the ante-natal classes for expecting mothers. Through this initiative, we hope to educate, inform and facilitate the journey of motherhood and create aware individuals.”
Experts gave advises on nutrition and diet, exercises and breastfeeding techniques. All the participants were given information booklets on diet and exercise plans. The next session will be on February 10.
