Ghala St Paul’s Mar Thoma Church holds Christmas Carol Competition 2018
MUSCAT: Ghala St Paul’s Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam organised the 8th edition of the Ecumenical Christmas Carol Competition at Catholic Hall, Ghala recently.
Five Church Choirs - The Malayalam community choir of St Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ruwi; Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka, Ruwi; St Ephraim Knanaya Church; Syro Malabar Catholic community, Ghala and the Malayalam Community choir of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Ghala participated in the competition, powered by Apollo Hospital Muscat. The Ghala St Paul’s Mar Thoma Church Choir, the Sunday School and the Teenage Choir performed at the event, which was attended by over 200 people from various congregations in Muscat.
St Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ruwi bagged the first place, while Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka, Ruwi and St Ephraim Knanaya Church, Ghala bagged the second and third place respectively. The Kalluzhathil family ever-rolling trophies sponsored by Regi K. Thomas were presented to the three winners. Musicians Hari Menon and Sreekumar were the judges for the competition.
In his inaugural address, Rev Titus Thomas, Vicar of Ghala St Paul’s Mar Thoma Church, said the competition had over the years become a unique and one of its kind in the Sultanate. Rev Sherin Chacko, Vicar of St Ephraim Knanaya Church was also present. Nikhil Philip Jacob was the convener, Thomas Philip, the Co-Convener and Oommen John P was the Programme Coordinator of the event. Jincy Siby, Lady Secretary of Yuvajana Sakhyam welcomed the gathering. Viji Varghese, made the introductory address, while Cinee Jo compered the event.
