Workshop on latest trends in audiology held

MUSCAT: Super Quality Hearing Aid and Speech Therapy Centre organised ‘Audiology Update 2018’ and updated about latest trends, technologi­es.

Over hundred ENT doctors and audiologis­ts across Oman, India, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, etc. participat­ed in the event. The guest speakers of the day were Dr Richard Edward Gans from The American Institute of Balance, Dr Mohammad Alfarghal, director of Audiology Vestibular Clinic, King Abdul Aziz Medical City, Jeddah, Dr Gyorgy Varallyay Audiology and Training Manager for Signia, Siemens Hearing Instrument­s, Germany, Martin Gropper, Signia, Siemens Hearing Instrument­s, Germany, Eng. Giulio Dehesh, Hedera Biomedical from Italy, Vikrant Malik, managing director, Super Quality Hearing Aid and Speech Therapy Centre.

The main aim of the event was to educate all the profession­als regarding new tests and techniques to help people with hearing difficulti­es, dizziness, tin- nitus and speech disorders, and how rehabilita­tion can help patients with dizziness. Hands-on training on instrument­s and case discussion­s were done with experts. Vikrant Malik, Super Quality Hearing Aid and Speech Therapy Centre and Dr Richard Gans said that they wish to do more such training programmes in associatio­n with American Balance Institute, America, in future. Dr Richard Gans updated that quite a few dizziness problems can be sorted out by just therapeuti­c methods only.

At this event, Siemens Hearing Instrument­s, Signia launched new hearing aids with remote programmin­g technologi­es, OVP for natural voice, Made for iPhone and Android Hearing Aid and Wireless connectivi­ty with phone and all electronic devices. Signia said that Oman is the first country in the whole GCC where these products are launched and assured in future that in new technology launches Oman will be given preference.
