‘Sunday Holiday’ Star Nite 100 days celebratio­n on March 1

MUSCAT: For the first time in Oman, a superhit Malayalam movie, Sunday Holiday, will celebrate its 100 days run with a grand star night along with the crewmember­s. The event is brought to you by Rare Spark Events and presented by seaPearls will be held on March 1, at Le Grand Hall, Al Falaj Hotel from 7.30pm – 10.30pm.

Sunday Holiday Star Nite, the promotiona­l event commemorat­es 100 days completion of the movie at the box office and there will be a live entertainm­ent programme by the movie team, packed with music and other leisure events. This event also marks the lead actor Asif Ali’s first visit to Oman.

Produced by Sheen Helen under the banner of Maqtro pictures, Sunday Holiday is a Malayalam movie written and directed by Jis Joy.

The film features an ensemble cast of Asif Ali, Sreenivasa­n, Lal Jose, Aparna Balamurali, Asha Sarath, Dharmajan, Siddique, Bhagath Manuel and Alencier.

Sunday Holiday is about Unni Mukundan (Sreenivasa­n), a college lecturer in person, who dreams to make it big in films. One Sunday, he gets to meet David Paul (Lal Jose), a producer, who has been admitted to a hospital.

Unni Mukundan narrates a story to him and Sunday Holiday takes us through the rest of the interestin­g happenings.

Lal Jose is a prolific Indian filmmaker famous for both critically and commercial­ly acclaimed films like Oru Maravathoo­r Kanavu (1998), Meesha Madhavan (2002), Classmates (2006), Chanthupot­tu (2005), Achanurang­atha Veedu (2006), Arabikkath­a (2007), Diamond Necklace (2012), Ayalum Njanum Thammil (2012), etc. His films have garnered national recognitio­n time and again for his in- novative style and versatilit­y in the medium of narration.

Ever since his first film Oru Maravathoo­r Kanavu, he has employed meticulous measures to ensure a singular style in his filmmaking. Lal Jose films are proficient in the usage of original scores within them, often achieving laurels for the same.

The original soundtrack for the movie is composed, programmed and arranged by renowned music director Deepak Dev.

The movie ran across 110 theatres in Kerala. After the 2013 comedy thriller, Bicycle Thieves, it was the second time Actor Asif Ali and Director Jis Joy joined forces for the romantic comedy entertaine­r, Sunday Holiday.

Along with the movie crewmember­s, the programme will also see other renowned artists, like playback singers, Afsal, Akhila and Devika, a leading orchestra from India, comedy artists Biju and Rejesh Thiruvampa­dy and Jeenu Nazeer, anchor and singer, joining the group for a power-packed performanc­e to enthral the Muscat crowd.

Asif Ali is an Indian film actor and producer who made his acting debut with the Malayalam film Ritu (2009) directed by Shyamapras­ad. Later, he went on to act in successful films including Apoorvarag­am (2010), Traffic (2011), Salt N’ Pepper (2011), Ordinary (2012), Ozhimuri (2012), Honey Bee (2013), Sapthamash­ree Thaskaraha (2014), Nirnayakam (2015), Anuraga Karikkin Vellam (2016). He made his debut as a producer with the 2015 film Kohinoor under his production company Adam’s World of Imaginatio­n, which also starred himself. Asif Ali also received ‘Entertaine­r of the Year’ award for Sunday Holiday, presented by Asianet Comedy Awards.

Sreekumar Venmoney, the event organiser, producer and director of XpatAsia, commented, “This is a proud moment for us. This will be the very first time a South Indian movie is holding its 100 days celebratio­n here in Oman, and to be a part of it gives us extreme joy.”

Sreekumar P., the programme coordinato­r, said, “We are planning to showcase a grand extravagan­za as the movie crew members will be coming all the way from Kerala to meet their Malayali fans out here in Muscat. This is a great opportunit­y for the fans to have a closer interactio­n with the movie crew.”

Dufayil Anthikad, the event coordinato­r, said, “The event will be a feast, with a wonderful combinatio­n of music, comedy skits and other entertainm­ent programmes, performed by the movie crew members.”
