Oman Air to launch Istanbul route on June 1, Casablanca, Moscow to follow

MUSCAT: Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate, is launching three new routes this year, to Istanbul in Turkey in June, Casablanca in Morocco in July, and Moscow in Russia in October.

While Istanbul and Moscow will be served by Oman Air’s Boeing 737-800, Casablanca will be served by 787-8.

The new flight to Istanbul will be launched on June 1. Flight WY163 will depart from Muscat daily at 20.00hrs, arriving in Istanbul at 00.25hrs. The return flight, WY164, will depart from Istanbul every day at 01.25hrs, arriving in Muscat at 07.25hrs. The flight duration is approximat­ely five hours and 25 minutes.

The new Casablanca flight will start on July 1 and will be the only non-stop service to Casablanca from Oman.

Casablanca schedule

Flight WY171 will depart from Muscat four times a week at 01.20hrs, arriving in Casablanca at 07.10hrs. The return flight, WY172, will depart from Casablanca at 08.20hrs, arriving in Muscat at 19.15hrs. The flight duration is approximat­ely eight hours and 50 minutes, though the return flight from Casablanca will be shorter by approximat­ely an hour.

The Moscow flight will be launched during the Winter schedule 2018. The direct flight will be operated daily and will be the only non-stop operation between Oman and Russia.

From trading to sharing informatio­n, Oman has had strong bilateral relations with Turkey, Morocco and Russia, and the introducti­on of these new flights will help strengthen these relations even further. The new routes will also enable Oman Air’s guests to explore three of the world’s most exciting cities.

Oman Air is currently undergoing an exciting fleet and network expansion programme, which will see the airline operate up to 62 aircraft to nearly 60 destinatio­ns by 2022.
