Sezad inks Duqm water network expansion pact

MUSCAT: The Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm (Sezad) signed an agreement on Monday to expand the water network in the Special Economic Zone as part of Sezad’s plans to complete infrastruc­ture projects and prepare it to attract investment­s.

Sezad Chair Yahya bin Said bin Abdullah Al Jabri signed the agreement with Ali bin Mubarak Al Matar, executive director of the implementi­ng company, AlMatar Trading and Contractin­g. The implementa­tion of the project is expected to be within 548 days, with another 30 days set aside for preparatio­ns. The project worth OMR2.3 million will aim to deliver portable water to several sites and invest in the constructi­on of future Sezad projects, such as the zones for light industries, heavy industries, medium and light industries and a rock garden.

According to the agreement, two water tanks with a capacity of 500 m3, water pumping stations, and valve chambers will be built, along with the supply and installati­on of valves, connection­s to the existing water network, testing pipeline and accessorie­s, and operation of the pipeline after constructi­on. The length of pipelines under this agreement is some 17km.
