MUSCAT: Saud Bahwan Automotive (SBA) conducted the National Service Skills Contest recently.

The keenly-contested event was between outstanding Toyota Service staff members drawn from various branches all across Oman.

SBA has a strong commitment to offering world-class customer service to valued Toyota patrons in Oman.

According to the group spokesperson, “SBA, a customer-oriented organisation places a huge emphasis on customer care. Our commitment is to the twin mottos of ‘Customer First’ and ‘Customers for Life’. The aim is to “Do It Right the First Time’ and thereby enhance the satisfaction levels of the customers. Following the principle of Kaizen or continuous improvement, we continue to strengthen our customer-centric approach as we strive towards setting new benchmarks in Customer Delight.”

With this aim in mind, the contest had been designed in two segments, including written tests and on-vehicle tests. The candidates were also required to do actual demonstrations of denting, painting and fault-rectification in order to evaluate their skills. A panel of judges observed each contestant and evaluated their performance with a scoring sheet, which covered important parameters.

At the conclusion of the contest, an award ceremony was held to honour and felicitate the outstanding performers. Masayuki Fukumori, project general manager, Bahrain Representative Office, Toyota Motor Corporation along with Abdullah Mohammed Bahwan handed over the awards to the outstanding performers and applauded their efforts.

The top three winners were awarded. The gold winner was further presented with a special plaque that is being provided every year by Toyota Motor Corporation in appreciation of outstanding achievement.

Overall, the event was a tremendous success, with the relentless support and commitment of everyone. The award winners have become a source of inspiration to other team members, igniting in them the flame of hard work and dedication.

The Saud Bahwan Technical Training Centre provides a variety of training courses to help Omani staff hone their skills and build rich and rewarding careers. The programmes usually last from 6 months to 18 months and train candidates to graduate as mechanics, vehicle service representatives, dentors/painters and to take up various other vocational paths.

Over the years, a range of awards – locally, regionally and from across the globe – have been bestowed on SBG Training Facilities. Its trained technicians have also won numerous medals at World, Regional and Middle East skills contest championships in different categories.
