MUSCAT: The new Muscat International Airport terminal is a true gem of a place that’s been hugely anticipated by Omanis.

Perhaps people are still admiring its architectural beauty and the great services that are offered, but a trip is never complete without a shopping-and-dining session, and it is safe to say that the new airport has outdone itself, and food lovers and shopaholics are in for a treat.

For food fanatics, there is quite a variety of cuisines and options for diners.

Many of them are already operating, while others have yet to open.

Among the new restaurants and cafes, there’s Nero Cafe, serving various coffees and creamy favourites; as well as cheesy sandwiches, salads, and honeyyoghurt treats.

Make sure to try their cheese and pickle sandwich, it’s to die for.

Another must-try spot is Noor, a Turkish restaurant serving a fusion of Lebanese and Arabic goodness, with a touch of Turkey.

Its contemporary-yet-vintage decor will definitely peak your interest.

Other places to dine include Plenty for quick bites, Kahwaji and Tim Horton’s for coffee addicts, and Mazoon Cafe for Omani specials.

Now, for shoppers, the new duty free is nothing compared to that of the old airport; it’s widespread, spacious, and serves 100 brands ranging from perfumes like Amouage and Chanel, to jewellery, fashion and travel accessories, such as Paolo Salotto, along with a dedicated shop for traditional handicrafts.
