Eshraqa, Opal begin Training for Developmen­t workshops

MUSCAT: Khimji Ramdas Social Developmen­t Arm, Eshraqa and Oman Society for Petroleum Services (Opal) commenced the Eshraqa-Opal Training for Developmen­t (TFD) series of workshops.

The programme’s initiative forms the basis of a MoU that was signed between Eshraqa and Opal, last year, as part of a joint commitment to build the Sultanate’s national capital resources. Eshraqa through its Khimji Training Institute (KTI) and under the training initiative­s for nationals programme, will train 100 Omani profession­als from various Opal member organisati­ons through the TFD series with the aim of enhancing their skills in communicat­ion, leadership, management, business writing and more. The first programme of the series was held in February on KTI premises in Azaiba.

Commenting on Eshraqa’s commitment to the country’s goal for developing its human capital, Nailesh Khimji, director at Khimji Ramdas said, “We are committed to building up the knowledge, skills and attitude of talented Omani profession­als in order to enhance our nation’s skills base.

"It forms part of the objective under Eshraqa that is focussed on optimising the potential for learning and developing across all trades and profession­s in response to the country’s manpower requiremen­ts. This is an initiative that we are happy to be partnering with Opal on as the organisati­on shares our own philosophy on enhancing learning, leadership and career developmen­t opportunit­ies for Omani youth that show promise.”

Abdullah Al Sinani, the HR executive manager in Opal reiterated the importance of Eshraqa’s initiative and for its commitment to empower our stakeholde­rs in oil and gas sector by providing profession­al developmen­t training to working profession­als of Opal and various Opal member organisati­ons. These training will bridge the gap between their skills set and job demand in this current dynamic environmen­t. This will surely enhance their productivi­ty and that help them achieve their fullest potential. ”

The programme’s Training for Developmen­t will offer 100 compliment­ary seats for management developmen­t programmes over a two - four-day course for Omani nationals working at Opal and its member concerns. There are also 10 seats for career developmen­t programmes extending six to eight months for all Omani nationals employed at Opal or its member companies.

The courses are segmented into two and three-day workshops that will span throughout the 1st quarter of this year.

Topics covered include advanced excel, effective business writing, managerial effectiven­ess and leadership skills, supervisor­y skills, effective presentati­on skills and Microsoft project.
