Al Zubair launches Oil and Gas West Asia 2018

The biennial event attracted a large number of companies from 19 countries including France, Egypt, Iran, Italy, China and South Korea

MUSCAT: Mohammed bin Al Zubair, Advisor to His Majesty for Economic Planning Affairs, formally inaugurate­d the 11th Oil and Gas West Asia (OGWA) 2018 exhibition on Sunday.

Organised by Omanexpo in collaborat­ion with the Ministry of Oil and Gas, the biennial event attracted a wide gamut of companies from 19 countries including France, Egypt, Iran, Italy, China and South Korea.

The exhibition witnessed the gathering of more than 400 exhibitors, providing a dynamic business networking and developmen­t platform for local and internatio­nal industry profession­als, contractor­s, and manufactur­es.

Earlier, Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhy, Minister of Oil and Gas, inaugurate­d the affiliated Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) conference, organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). It was attended by some of the biggest names in the industry. The EOR conference included opening speeches by Saleh bin Ali Al Anboori, Director General of Planning and Studies, and Darcy Spady, President of Society of Petroleum Engineers.

This was followed by the OGWA ICV Awards 2018.

The conference then moved to the keynote panel session on the energy sector, focusing on the topic “Sustaining and Expanding Socio-Economic Developmen­ts”. The executive plenary session, themed “Staying the Course and Moving to New Frontiers” will be held on the second day of the conference.

Since its inception in 1998, OGWA has grown to become one of the biggest and most important energy events in the Middle East region.
