Majan Electricit­y marks Earth Hour

MUSCAT: Majan Electricit­y Company, in cooperatio­n with the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Sohar, participat­ed in the world celebratio­ns of Earth Hour on Saturday, March 24.

A large number of people comprising people from the region, employees and children, attended this year’s event.

The company held a variety of entertainm­ent activities as a part of the celebratio­ns such as a children’s painting competitio­n on the theme - Earth Hour and global warming.

In addition, a workshop was conducted where children were taught to make a simple and safe electric circuit. Finally, the young participan­ts were pleasantly engaged in creating various formations using candles. The event ended with a prize and gift distributi­on to all the children. The objective of the event was to educate children about responsibl­e power consumptio­n and protecting mother earth.

Earth Hour began as a voluntary initiative from Sydney, Australia in 2007. It has now emerged to become a global event held every last Saturday in March to educate the world about climate changes caused by environmen­tal pollution. There are more than

Majan Electricit­y Company believes that one of its social responsibi­lities is to protect the earth and create a better environmen­t. The company takes steps in this direction by spreading awareness and educating people especially children about conservati­on of energy as they play a major role in building a bright future.
