MUSCAT: The election of the Executive Committee of Pakistan Social Club Oman (PSCO) will be held on Friday, March 30, at Pakistan School Muscat.

The election for the period of 2018 to 2019 will be held under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Development.

It will begin after the Annual General Report is handed to the Election Commission Board by the General Secretary, along with the presentation of the audited accounts and auditor’s report, as well as proposed events and budgets, and the nomination of the auditor for the next year. Entry for eligible members will start at 2pm, and they will have to present their residency and PSCO membership cards to cast their votes. “On this occasion, I would like to thank our esteemed community members who have shown a very positive response towards becoming a part of PSCO in 2017, and I assure them that the elections will be free and fair just as the previous years,” said Mohammad Munir, PSCO Chairman.

Moreover, A.H Raja, Vice Chairman at PSCO, is looking forward to the election system being upgraded, with the current one ongoing since 1998 when the Ministry of Social Development officially recognised the club.

“I am extremely proud of how far we have come, as the club where all like-minded and enthusiastic Pakistanis work side-by-side for the welfare of the community. I would request all the members once again to choose their representative on merit,” he said, adding, “However, I would be equally happy to see the Ministry of Social Development revise the election system and modify it to help us avoid confusion during the elections.”

PSCO is a non-profit institution formed in 1992 by a group of enthusiastic patriots to promote social and cultural interaction among the Pakistani community and has grown massively over the years, standing at 2,200 registered members. The club consists of seven wings that include sports, literary, youth, information technology, cultural, professional and women, and hosts a broad range of activities from sporting events and social parties to welfare, community health education and religious awareness programmes.
