‘Invest Easy’ portal helps in achieving transparency
The number of commercial, industrial and intellectual property transactions, specifications and standards reached 15,751 between January 1 and December 31, 2017.

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) is playing its role in implementation and follow-up of the government’s directions in various types of investments, setting up procedures to ensure ease of investors, introducing opportunities and places of localisation, and planning and optimal utilisation of resources in the Sultanate.
There is a partnership between the public sector and private sector for coordination in the process of promotions and to attract investments through joint economic committees comprising government agencies and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI).
The services have been made easily available on the ‘Invest Easy’ portal for investors and the business sector. It has clarity and transparency, saves time and efforts, and increases confidence among investors.
Abdullah bin Saif Al Shandoudi, Director of Commerce and Industry in Al Dakhliya governorate, said the number of commercial, industrial and intellectual property transactions, specifications and standards purposes in the department reached 15,751 between January 1 and December 31, 2017.
He said the number of transactions for application of commercial registrations in all categories reached 6,772. These included new commercial registrations, renewals, requests for commercial licences, transfer of ownerships of the companies, amendments or corrections of various information, liquidation of all types of commercial establishments, certificates of origin for industrial and agricultural products, amendments in the contract of mortgage, mortgage registration, documentation of contracts for sale and other issuing certifications, etc.
Al Shandoudi also said the number of transactions related to commercial registrations, made through the offices of Sanad in the Al Dakhliya governorate was 5,149. They were related to updating of data of commercial institutions and establishing and renewing their applications. The number of reports of ground visits of oil filling stations of cars and warehouses for the sale of liquefied petroleum gas cylinders also amounted to 178.
He also pointed out that according to the instructions received from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, inspection experts launched inspection and control campaigns in all marketing complexes and shops of Omani daggers in the governorate. This is important to ensure there is no violation of the specifications in manufacturing Omani daggers. He said that a committee, comprising the Department of Commerce and Industry, Public Authority for Consumer Protection and the Public Authority for Craft Industries in the Al Dakhliya governorate, was formed for the purpose of conducting inspections and visits. The Department of Commerce has also launched inspection and control campaigns in markets and shopping complexes, which are meant for garments, to ensure there are no violations. The department also held a workshop to introduce commercial and industrial licences in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Oman of Al Dakhliya governorate.
