‘Invest Easy’ portal helps in achieving transparen­cy

The number of commercial, industrial and intellectu­al property transactio­ns, specificat­ions and standards reached 15,751 between January 1 and December 31, 2017.

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) is playing its role in implementa­tion and follow-up of the government’s directions in various types of investment­s, setting up procedures to ensure ease of investors, introducin­g opportunit­ies and places of localisati­on, and planning and optimal utilisatio­n of resources in the Sultanate.

There is a partnershi­p between the public sector and private sector for coordinati­on in the process of promotions and to attract investment­s through joint economic committees comprising government agencies and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI).

The services have been made easily available on the ‘Invest Easy’ portal for investors and the business sector. It has clarity and transparen­cy, saves time and efforts, and increases confidence among investors.

Abdullah bin Saif Al Shandoudi, Director of Commerce and Industry in Al Dakhliya governorat­e, said the number of commercial, industrial and intellectu­al property transactio­ns, specificat­ions and standards purposes in the department reached 15,751 between January 1 and December 31, 2017.

He said the number of transactio­ns for applicatio­n of commercial registrati­ons in all categories reached 6,772. These included new commercial registrati­ons, renewals, requests for commercial licences, transfer of ownerships of the companies, amendments or correction­s of various informatio­n, liquidatio­n of all types of commercial establishm­ents, certificat­es of origin for industrial and agricultur­al products, amendments in the contract of mortgage, mortgage registrati­on, documentat­ion of contracts for sale and other issuing certificat­ions, etc.

Al Shandoudi also said the number of transactio­ns related to commercial registrati­ons, made through the offices of Sanad in the Al Dakhliya governorat­e was 5,149. They were related to updating of data of commercial institutio­ns and establishi­ng and renewing their applicatio­ns. The number of reports of ground visits of oil filling stations of cars and warehouses for the sale of liquefied petroleum gas cylinders also amounted to 178.

He also pointed out that according to the instructio­ns received from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, inspection experts launched inspection and control campaigns in all marketing complexes and shops of Omani daggers in the governorat­e. This is important to ensure there is no violation of the specificat­ions in manufactur­ing Omani daggers. He said that a committee, comprising the Department of Commerce and Industry, Public Authority for Consumer Protection and the Public Authority for Craft Industries in the Al Dakhliya governorat­e, was formed for the purpose of conducting inspection­s and visits. The Department of Commerce has also launched inspection and control campaigns in markets and shopping complexes, which are meant for garments, to ensure there are no violations. The department also held a workshop to introduce commercial and industrial licences in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Oman of Al Dakhliya governorat­e.
