Mazoon College signs Memorandum of Understand­ing with IIT (ISM) India

MUSCAT: Mazoon College, Muscat, Oman signed Memorandum of Understand­ing (MoU) with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad, India to enter into an academic partnershi­p between the two organisati­ons.

In connection to that, a team headed by Dr Juma Saleh Salim Al Ghailani, founder and managing director of Mazoon College and chairman of Bayan College conducted a two-day visit to the Computer Engineerin­g Department of IIT (ISM) to explore the opportunit­ies available and to experience the on-campus facilities.

Dr Juma said that he was very impressed by the infrastruc­ture and facilities at IIT (ISM) and added that they will also be collaborat­ing in the field of Media and Mass Communicat­ion and IT, besides Management Studies, with IIT (ISM).

Further describing the twoday visit, Dr Juma said that the visit was fruitful and many discussion­s took place on conducting short-term courses, organising seminars, conference­s, symposia, lectures as part of an academic collaborat­ion with the officials of the Management Studies Department.

During the visit, Dr Juma and the team conducted several rounds of talks, primarily with the Department of Management Studies to work out a roadmap for conducting collaborat­ive research, faculty and students exchange programmes and launching joint courses in the institutio­ns.

Dr Juma emphasised that the Ministry of Higher Education in Oman is keen on having ties and added that, the people of Oman has high regards for India.

Briefing on the outcome of the Mazoon team visit, Pramod Pathnak, coordinato­r of the foreign collaborat­ion efforts in IIT (ISM) said that starting of the collaborat­ive venture will take place by launching several short terms and certificat­e courses, exchange of students and faculty members.

“The parties desired to establish a collaborat­ion to enhance the irrespecti­ve Management and Engineerin­g Education competenci­es and to develop beneficial programmes in accordance with the collaborat­ion,” said Dr Juma.

As per the MoU the parties can collaborat­e in exchange of students for admission into various academic programmes, short-term courses, internship, research and data collection, exchange of academic, research and administra­tive staff, developmen­t of joint courses, collaborat­ive research, instructio­nal and cultural programmes, exchange of research informatio­n on mutually agreed terms, organisati­on of joint academic and scientific activities such as courses, conference­s, seminars, symposia, lectures and others and exchange of publicatio­ns and other materials of common interest.
