Mazoon College signs Memorandum of Understanding with IIT (ISM) India
MUSCAT: Mazoon College, Muscat, Oman signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad, India to enter into an academic partnership between the two organisations.
In connection to that, a team headed by Dr Juma Saleh Salim Al Ghailani, founder and managing director of Mazoon College and chairman of Bayan College conducted a two-day visit to the Computer Engineering Department of IIT (ISM) to explore the opportunities available and to experience the on-campus facilities.
Dr Juma said that he was very impressed by the infrastructure and facilities at IIT (ISM) and added that they will also be collaborating in the field of Media and Mass Communication and IT, besides Management Studies, with IIT (ISM).
Further describing the twoday visit, Dr Juma said that the visit was fruitful and many discussions took place on conducting short-term courses, organising seminars, conferences, symposia, lectures as part of an academic collaboration with the officials of the Management Studies Department.
During the visit, Dr Juma and the team conducted several rounds of talks, primarily with the Department of Management Studies to work out a roadmap for conducting collaborative research, faculty and students exchange programmes and launching joint courses in the institutions.
Dr Juma emphasised that the Ministry of Higher Education in Oman is keen on having ties and added that, the people of Oman has high regards for India.
Briefing on the outcome of the Mazoon team visit, Pramod Pathnak, coordinator of the foreign collaboration efforts in IIT (ISM) said that starting of the collaborative venture will take place by launching several short terms and certificate courses, exchange of students and faculty members.
“The parties desired to establish a collaboration to enhance the irrespective Management and Engineering Education competencies and to develop beneficial programmes in accordance with the collaboration,” said Dr Juma.
As per the MoU the parties can collaborate in exchange of students for admission into various academic programmes, short-term courses, internship, research and data collection, exchange of academic, research and administrative staff, development of joint courses, collaborative research, instructional and cultural programmes, exchange of research information on mutually agreed terms, organisation of joint academic and scientific activities such as courses, conferences, seminars, symposia, lectures and others and exchange of publications and other materials of common interest.
