Supreme Council organises forum on Oman Vision 2040

NIZWA: The Supreme Council for Planning organised an introducto­ry forum on Oman Vision 2040 and the time frame of Oman Initiative at Nizwa Cultural Centre in the Governorat­e of A’Dakhiliyah on Sunday.

The forum comes as part of the communicat­ion initiative­s to achieve social partnershi­p and was held under the patronage of Sheikh Dr. Khalifa bin Hamad Al Saadi, Governor of A’Dakhiliyah.

Presentati­on

Dr. Yousef bin Hamad Al Balushi, Economist at the Vision Office submitted a brief presentati­on on the Oman Vision 2040, which was based on the directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and the accompanyi­ng objectives, points, themes, milestones, stages, preparatio­n and committees.

After that, a public discussion session was conducted on Oman Vision 2040, in which the members of the sectoral and qualitativ­e committees participat­ed.

Themes

The participan­ts then were divided into three discussion groups that dealt with the first theme “Man and Community” to promote social welfare, preserve the identity and heritage of the Sultanate and develop national competenci­es.

The second theme “Economy and Developmen­t” addressed wealth achievemen­t through a diversifie­d economy, empower the private sector, establish a modern infrastruc­ture and an integrated urban system, preserve the sustainabi­lity of the environmen­t and achieve balanced developmen­t of the governorat­es.

The third theme “Governance and Institutio­nal Performanc­e” aims at improving the effectiven­ess of governance and institutio­nal performanc­e, the rule of law, raise the efficiency of government agencies, raise the degree of coordinati­on between them and strengthen citizens’ confidence.

Target groups

It is worth mentioning that the forum targets the various segments of the society from governors, Walis, sheikhs, state dignitarie­s, government representa­tives in the governorat­es, honourable members of the State Council, members of Majlis Al Shura, and municipal councils, civil society organisati­ons, sports clubs, youth, students of higher education institutio­ns, schools, business owners, academic bodies and Omani women associatio­ns.
