MSM index ends lower

Global Financial Investment was the top gainer, up 9.65 per cent while the top loser was Muscat Gases, down 8.60 per cent.

MUSCAT: The MSM30 Index gave up some losses to close at 4,737.17 points, down 0.76 per cent. The MSM Shariah Index declined 0.13 per cent to end at 677.60 points. Galfar Engineering remained the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Global Financial Investment was the top gainer, up 9.65 per cent while the top loser was Muscat Gases, down 8.60 per cent.

A total number of 1,493 trades were executed on Sunday, generating turnover of OMR4.85 million with 39.31 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded securities, 18 advanced, 10 declined and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR314,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR305,000 followed by Foreign investors for OMR9,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index shed 0.22 per cent to close at 7,105.76 points. Global Financial Investment, Al Batinah Development, Gulf Investment Services, Oman & Emirates Holding and Al Anwar Holding gained 9.65 per cent, 7.87 per cent, 6.52 per cent, 6.36 per cent and 5.23 per cent respectively. Ahli Bank, HSBC Bank, Taageer Finance, Bank Sohar and NBO declined 5.06 per cent, 3.81 per cent, 3.60 per cent, 2.16 per cent and 0.55 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index had gain of 0.52 per cent to finish at 6,628.32 points. Galfar Engineering, National Aluminium, Al Anwar Ceramics, Construction Materials and Oman Fisheries gained 5.56 per cent, 4.97 per cent, 4.17 per cent, 3.85 per cent and 3.17 per cent respectively. Oman Cables Industry and Gulf International Chemicals slid 7.08 per cent and 0.93 per cent respectively.

Services Index ended at 2,612.27 points, up 0.25 per cent. Renaissance Services, National Gas and Al Jazeera Services gained 3.37 per cent, 2.00 per cent and 1.69 per cent respectively. Muscat Gases, OIFC and Omantel declined 8.60 per cent, 3.82 per cent and 1.75 per cent respectively.
