Bank Sohar takes part in MEC career fair

MUSCAT: Working to the national agenda of boosting employment for the youth in Oman, Bank Sohar recently took part in the Career and Training Opportunit­ies Fair organised by the Middle East College (MEC) and Knowledge Oasis Muscat under the auspices of Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Nasser Al Nadabi, Undersecre­tary for Civil Service Affairs in the Ministry of Civil Service.

The event welcomed students from various fields such as computer engineerin­g, computer science, electronic­s engineerin­g, design technology, civil engineerin­g and other management specialisa­tion from the Middle East College and neighbouri­ng academic institutio­ns, and offered them a platform to explore options of employment and training at Bank Sohar as well as other exhibiting organisati­ons.

On welcoming students and potential candidates to Bank Sohar’s stall, representa­tives of Bank Sohar’s HR team were pleased to see heightened interest among the youth to join the bank and took the opportunit­y to educate them on prospects of employment and training; be it in finance or nonfinance roles at the bank’s various department­s. They also highlighte­d Bank Sohar’s initiative­s and policies in relation to human capital developmen­t. Concluding the exhibition and in recognitio­n of its support and participat­ion, Bank Sohar received a token of appreciati­on from the organisers of the event.

Commenting on the participat­ion in this fair, Mohamed bin Mahfoudh Al Ardhi, chairman of Bank Sohar, said, “Bank Sohar is committed to aligning its efforts with the national agenda to ensure that the youth of Oman are offered the best possible career opportunit­ies suited to their aspiration­s and ambitions in the sector. The industry can always benefit from the fresh talent and events like these promote successful engagement between graduating students and hiring companies.”

By participat­ing and engaging with students and job seekers in the Career and Training Opportunit­ies Fair at the Middle East College, Bank Sohar’s demonstrat­ed its commitment towards investing in local youth, as previously iterated in successful collaborat­ions with government­al initiative­s, campaigns designed to provide greater access to education, and internship­s for high-achievers.

Post joining Bank Sohar’s team, employees gets further opportunit­ies to enhance their skills and competenci­es on an on-going basis utilising specialise­d training programmes conducted by its in-house Learning Centre and if required, at specialise­d training institutio­ns; locally or abroad. Additional­ly, the bank regularly sponsors young Omanis for further education in banking studies whilst providing staff with overseas training to meet their education requiremen­ts.
