‘Glimpses of Mind’ painting and sculpture exhibition from April 12

MUSCAT: Oman Avenues Mall will host Mind Muscat, a group of creative multicultu­ral artists from Oman.

‘Glimpses of Mind’, the painting and sculpture exhibition by Mind Muscat is set to happen between April 12 and 16.

The exhibits will comprise a variety of art works by profession­al and amateurs depicting the lifestyle, scenic beauty, rich culture and heritage of Oman and India.

With the help and support of Oman Avenues Mall, Mind Muscat aims to encourage the upcoming artists through this event by providing a platform to exhibit their works. Live painting in the venue, with the help of few of the artists, is also planned for the 5-day event.

Indra Mani Pandey, the Ambassador of India to Oman, will inaugurate the art exhibition. Eminent artist Saleem Sakhi, Anwar Sonya from Omani Society for Fine Arts and Hassan Al Zadjali will also attend the occasion and support the cause.

Mind Muscat is a thriving community of Indian artists coming from all walks of life in Oman, formed to revive their talents and unleash the creativity within. Born from a need for local artists to have a place to meet and connect with other artists, Mind Muscat a group of creative multicultu­ral artists from Oman came into existence on April 12, 2013.

where there is no competitio­n or comparison, but only a shared love for drawing, painting, and other allied arts. It also provides the members with an opportunit­y to develop new skills and exhibit their works.

Having conducted few painting exhibition­s and workshops in the past, of which one was inaugurate­d by the renowned Indian painter, the late. C. N. Karunakara­n, at InterConti­nental Hotel in April 2013, Mind Muscat have been quite active these days; conducting activities such as open live painting at parks; workshops in clay modelling and sculpture; photograph­y exhibition and other allied arts’ exhibition­s.

As a creative incubator for the artists, Mind Muscat is on a mission to increase the visibility and recognitio­n of artists and craftspeop­le in Oman, encouragin­g them to master their skills for the advancemen­t and practice of painting and allied visual arts, allowing the public to engage with art, learn from our artist community and appreciate creativity for what it brings to our lives.

Artists of Indian origin who are interested to participat­e in the exhibition, kindly contact Mind Muscat by sending an e-mail to glimpsesof­mind@gmail.com. Subject for the painting is open, however; it shall not harm Oman’s cultural and religious harmony.

The artists must present works, which reflect their own idea or concept. Reproducti­ons of paintings from the internet or by famous painters are not considered eligible to participat­e.
